London, Drawn Differently
For 100 years, London has been home. This season, we look at it afresh — not as a postcard, but as a place lived and loved. From the sweep of London Scenic to the bold colour of Parakeets, each print explores a different side of the city: its landmarks and its hidden corners, its grand architecture and its escaped wildlife. Discover the stories behind our most personal collection yet.
The stories behind our London-inspired prints
For this season, we turn our attention to the city that has shaped Derek Rose for a century: London. Not simply as a backdrop, but as a living, layered source of inspiration — full of movement, contrast, character and unexpected beauty. Across this season’s collection, London appears through hand-painted landscapes, geometric motifs, hidden wildlife and everyday moments, each interpreted with the quiet wit and thoughtful detail that define Derek Rose.
Rather than presenting a polished postcard version of the city, these prints explore London as it’s truly lived: familiar yet surprising, elegant yet eccentric, steeped in tradition while constantly evolving. From grand landmarks to green parks, bustling streets to flashes of tropical parakeets overhead, each design captures a different rhythm of the capital we call home.
London Scenic

A portrait of the city we know best
At the heart of the collection sits London Scenic — a hand-painted print created in our London studio as both a celebration of place and a reflection of our centenary perspective. Scenic prints have long been part of the Derek Rose story, but this season the city itself becomes the focus.
The design unfolds like a living map. St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace and Battersea Power Station emerge naturally within the composition, woven into the everyday rhythm of London life rather than presented as monuments. A royal parade moves gently through the scene — a subtle nod to the two coronations witnessed over the past century.
But it’s the quieter details that bring the print to life. Rose gardens bloom between city streets. Swans glide across the water. Parakeets dart through the trees while hidden cats wait discreetly among the greenery for observant eyes to spot them. Even our Derek Rose stores are worked subtly into the landscape — a personal detail rooted in our own history with the city.
Layered, expressive and deeply personal, London Scenic captures London not as a destination, but as a place lived and loved.
London Toile

The softer side of city life
If London Scenic celebrates the city in motion, London Toile explores its quieter corners. Inspired by London’s parks, ponds and hidden gardens, the print is built from a series of hand-drawn vignettes that reveal moments of calm within the capital’s constant movement.
An urban fox wanders through a rose garden. A family cat explores the edges of Hampstead Pond. Wild parakeets move between trees while horses pull a coronation carriage through the scene. Traditional toile influences are reimagined through a distinctly London lens — refined, playful and slightly unexpected.
The result feels both classic and contemporary: a portrait of London at its most charming, where nature quietly softens the city around it.
London Garden

Nature woven into the city
London has always been defined as much by its gardens as its architecture. From private squares to sprawling parks, greenery gives rhythm to the city — moments of pause among the movement. Our London Garden-inspired prints celebrate that softer side of urban life.
Through hand-drawn florals, layered foliage and richly detailed compositions, these designs capture the feeling of wandering through hidden gardens in bloom. Roses appear throughout as a subtle nod to the Rose family name, while vibrant colour palettes reflect the brightness and optimism of a London summer.
There’s a sense of life within every detail: flowers at full bloom, birds moving through branches, unexpected glimpses of wildlife tucked among the leaves. Rather than feeling ornamental, the prints feel lived-in — expressive designs rooted in the everyday beauty of the city.

London Geometric Cross

Inspired by the patterns beneath our feet
London’s visual language extends far beyond landmarks. It lives in station tiles, transport signage, ironwork and repeating architectural details that become part of the city’s subconscious rhythm.
The London Geometric Cross print draws inspiration from the patterns found throughout the London transport network, transforming these familiar shapes into a clean, contemporary motif.
The design balances structure with softness — geometric without feeling rigid. Repeated cross motifs create movement across the fabric, while tonal colour combinations keep the overall effect refined and easy to wear. It’s a print that quietly references the city without ever feeling literal: modern, graphic and unmistakably London.
London Roundabout

Geometry in motion
Like the city itself, London is constantly moving. The London Roundabout print captures that sense of rhythm through interlocking circular forms inspired by the flow of London streets, roundabouts and transport routes.
Graphic yet playful, the design uses repeating curves to create a feeling of movement and connection across the fabric. The simplicity of the motif allows colour and scale to take centre stage, resulting in a print that feels both contemporary and timeless.
It’s London interpreted through pattern rather than picture — abstracted into something modern, wearable and quietly energetic.
People of London

The city, at its most human
No city is defined by its buildings alone. London’s character comes from its people — their individuality, routines and wonderfully idiosyncratic ways of moving through the world.
People of London celebrates exactly that. Hand-drawn and digitally coloured, the print captures Londoners enjoying their free time in charmingly distinct ways.
There’s an ease and humour to the design that reflects the spirit of the city itself. The figures feel observational rather than staged — glimpses of real life rather than caricatures. Warm, conversational and subtly witty, it’s a print that brings personality into the collection while remaining unmistakably Derek Rose.
Parakeets of London

The city’s brightest residents
For anyone familiar with London parks, the sound arrives before the sight: the unmistakable call of green parakeets overhead.
Parakeets of London celebrates these unlikely urban residents through a bold, energetic print filled with colour and movement. Their wings and bodies are decorated with geometric detailing, creating a design that feels vibrant, graphic and playful all at once.
Originally introduced for swimwear, the print reflects the brighter, more unexpected side of London life — proof that even in one of the world’s busiest cities, nature still finds ways to surprise you.
A city woven into every detail
Together, these prints form more than a seasonal collection. They become a portrait of London through the Derek Rose lens — thoughtful, expressive and deeply personal.
Some designs celebrate the city’s landmarks. Others focus on its hidden wildlife, quiet gardens or graphic architecture. But all share the same intention: to capture how London feels, not simply how it looks.
After 100 years in the city, these are the details we continue to notice. The moments worth returning to. The beauty hidden in plain sight.
A love letter to London, designed for living in beautifully.
